RESUMO

The study was undertaken to reveal the effects of ethymisole on the functional status of blood coagulation and fibrinolytic systems, the body's adaptative reserves of workers from expeditionary-duty teams. Ethymisole was found to normalize the functional status of blood coagulation and fibrinolytic systems, to restore conjunction of their functioning. The use of the drug was ascertained to normalize the activity of lipid peroxidation products, to enhance the adaptative reserves of expeditionary-duty workers by prolonging the resistance phase. It is concluded that ethymisole may be used as an agent that enhances the body's adaptative reserves.

RESUMO

Certain immunological parameters were examined over time in 54 patients afflicted with multiple sclerosis. Nonhormonal multimodality treatment methods including immunomodulatory remedies and corticosteroid hormones were employed. The total counts of T and B lymphocytes as well as their functional activity were found to be related to the disease stage. The pattern of changes in the main factors of immune responsiveness influenced by different types of therapy was established to be inconclusive. Based on an analysis of the clinico-paraclinical parameters it is concluded that conventional multimodality therapy including the use of immunomodulators may be administered both during disease remission and, in some cases, during its exacerbation.

RESUMO

Findings of immunologic observation of 35 subjects included into Group III of dispensary observation before and after antirecurring treatment with isoniazid and isoniazid in combination with ethymisole are presented. The findings indicate there is inhibition of immune cellular reactions in the above subjects (lower levels of T-suppressors and T-helpers and increased content of O-cells). Unfavorable changes in men are aggravated by suppressing antibody production; higher phagocytic blood activity is also detected. Thus, the antirecurring treatment promoted the normalization of immune reactions.

RESUMO

A novel technique was applied to treat oral mucosa paresthesia: formation and activation of artificial stable functional connections within the human brain. The method is based upon the activation and impulse stimulation of the brain. The results of treatment suggest high efficacy of the technique leading to prompt disintegration and reduction of the disease.

RESUMO

As etimizol has been previously reported to be of low bioavailability, the kinetics of its absorption from the dog intestinal loop was investigated in chronic experiments. After administration of etimizol at doses of 10 or 1 mg/loop mean residence time of etimizol in the loop was 20.1 and 7.6 min, respectively, with mean standard deviation being 3.1 and 0.8, respectively. It was concluded that overall etimizol absorption from small intestine was high and its low bioavailability resulted from presystemic drug metabolism, as well as that the absorption kinetics was dose-dependent, with saturation reached at higher drug doses.

RESUMO

The time course of 14C-etimizol distribution in cell structures of the rat cerebral cortex was studied. Two minutes after intraperitoneal injection etimizol penetrates brain cells. At this time the greater portion of the drug is found in cytosol. In five minutes the maximal part of the label gets bound with cell nuclei and microsomal protein fraction extracted with 0.14 M NaCl. These two cell fractions show the highest radioactivity throughout the entire observation period (up to 7 days). Since these fractions are reported to be capable of calcium accumulation, a suggestion is made that metabolic effects of etimizol are likely to be related to calcium metabolism.

RESUMO

Experiments on rabbits have shown that caffeine (10 mg/kg), ethimizol (10 mg/kg) and particularly bemegride (5 mg/kg) increase the blood adrenaline and noradrenaline content up to the level characteristic for intact animals under acute ethanol poisoning (2.5 g/kg per os). This effect has been found to be more remarkable on repeated administration. The shifts in the serotonin content are inconsistent in this case.

RESUMO

It was shown in experiments on rabbits that under acute alcohol poisoning of medium degree, repeated administration of caffeine (10 mg/kg) and bemegrid in particular (5 mg/kg) promotes aerobization of the oxidative processes and mobilizes the respiratory mechanism of metabolic acidosis compensation. Under these conditions, ethimizol (10 mg/kg) stimulates the respiratory center and promotes (to a less measure) aerobization of the metabolic processes in tissues and ethanol elimination.

RESUMO

Extracellular application of 5--10 mM/L etimizol exerted a specific effect on the giant neurons of the Coretus corneus isolated nervous system: action potential duration increased significantly, speed of development of its descending phase decreased, as well as the trace hyperpolarization amplitude. The effect was reversible and depended upon the etimizol concentration and the initial functional state of neurons. Etimizol is supposed to decrease the K-+ permeability of neurons' membrane during action potential. Large concentrations of etimizol decrease, probably, the Na+ permeability as well as suggested by reducing maximum of the ascending phase of action potential.
